About Xpu Ha Beach
For those looking to escape the crowds and are looking for a picture-perfect, secluded spot, Xpu Ha beach is ideal. This beautiful beach, which stretches for several miles along the Riviera Maya, is favored by the locals and once you visit this secret spot it is easy to see why. This primarily undiscovered gem has expansive, soft, white sandy beaches and crystal turquoise water all of which contribute to make Xpu Ha beach seem like a tourism picture come to life.
The beauty of Xpu Ha beach is that you can do very little or a lot, depending on your state of mind.
For those looking to kick back and relax, there are beach chairs and umbrellas that can be rented, or just bring your own and set up for the day. For the more adventurous, grab a mask and snorkel and explore the shallow waters along the shore. There's a good chance you'll see some exotic fish or some of the sea turtles that call Xpu Ha home. There are also tour operators that offer scuba diving, fishing trips, jet ski and kayak rentals and kite boarding lessons.
This little-known unspoiled beach is ringed by a tropical paradise of lush vegetation and greenery that offers privacy and solitude. A few hotels and condos that are available for rent dot the coastline of Xpu Ha beach for those who would like to stay longer and experience the area for more than a day. There are also several restaurants in Xpu Ha beach that you can stop in and enjoy delicious local fare like fish tacos and ceviche. Or stay put, kick back and relax in a beach chair and have a bucket of cold cervezas delivered right to you while enjoying the live music that is offered on the weekends.
Xpu Ha beach is located about 60 minutes south of Cancun and 30 minutes south of Playa del Carmen on the east side of the 307 highway. There are three entrances to Xpu Ha beach, watch for signs for the main one identified as “La Playa Xpu Ha.” There is a $40 peso entrance fee per person that will be refunded upon leaving with a receipt showing the equivalent was spent at the local restaurant.

Xpu Ha is one of the best beaches at the Riviera Maya. Is an ideal place to escape for a day. A really caribbean beach where you can have a chill out day, snorkel in the nice reef and great place for kitesurfing as well.

I traveled by Quintana Roo and Xpu Ha is a great beach to go. Where you can snorkel or scuba diving. See wonderful fishes and turtles. You should go there if you have opportunity. Is south of Playa del Carmen and north of Tulum. There are good seafood restaurants. Here also, you can just relax, is a calm beach not so touristic like Tulum, Playa del Carmen or Cancun. Go again when coming back to Mexico.

Some friends and I decided to stop by Xpu Ha beach after visiting a cenote. What a find! The day we were there we saw about 25 other people total on the beach, it felt like we had the place to ourselves, our own private, deserted beach. It really is beautiful, there isn't a lot to see snorkeling but you can walk way out in the water (it's quite shallow) and the swimming is pretty great. We ordered food from the restaurant so didn't have to pay to use the chairs. It's a little hard to find, you have to pay attention to the signs and the best advice I can give is to keep an eye our for the jet ski and turn there. We took the collectivo and the driver dropped us off at the end of the road next to the highway. From there we had about a ten minute walk down the road to get to the Xpu Ha beach. The road is fine but you do have to walk through the jungle so don't forget bug spray. Even if you have to hike a bit I can tell you that it is well worth it.

I live in Playa del Carmen and this is my favourite beach there. It is too far away for me to go to the famous Cancun's beaches but I think Playa Xpu-Ha isn't inferior to them. You can get there by "colectivo" or by taxi. What surprised me the most and not from the good side is that the entrance to the beach is paid (40 pesos for one person). But there are sun loungers and "palapas" on it. Also Xpu Ha Beach is more popular among local residents and not among tourists that's why there isn't a huge mass of people there. There are a lot of cafes and restaurants on the sea coast where you can taste the most delicious seafood. I adore seafood that's why I came to the Caribbean sea. Shrimps, crawfish, crabs.... everything with fresh salad. Mmmm...!!!
