About Playa Maroma Beach
Recently The Travel Channel designated Playa Maroma as one of the top ten most beautiful beaches in the world. With its expansive white sandy beaches, warm Caribbean breezes and bright blue water full of exotic fish it is easy to see how it earned a spot on the list. Playa Maroma is a place where you can stretch out in the sun, enjoy some superb snorkeling and escape to another world.
This secluded and exclusive stretch of beach is a bay in the Yucatan Peninsula along the Caribbean Sea. Because of its position as a bay, the water is protected from strong winds and waves making it relatively calm and clear year round and an excellent spot for world-class scuba diving, snorkeling and swimming. It is only a short swim from the shores of Playa Maroma beach out to the brightly colored reef, one of the largest reef systems in the world, which is teeming with marine life and natural coral gardens. Because the waters are relatively calm and the waters are generally shallow, the area is safe and a great location to enjoy for people of all ages. Explore the ocean on your own or find one of the tour companies along Playa Maroma beach that offer guided tours for diving or snorkeling as well as other water activities like fishing and para-sailing. There is also an area in Playa Maroma to swim with the dolphins.
Efforts to preserve the cultural and historical legacy of the Yucatan Peninsula are ongoing as are the efforts to conserve the unique ecology of the area including the mangroves and rainforest. Just a few steps from the Maroma beach find a different kind of natural beauty in an eco-paradise full of rich, tropical foliage, clear, freshwater cenotes and streams and wildlife that is indigenous to the area. Rent an ATV or join a horseback riding tour and go deep into the jungle to see the preservation efforts underway and to experience a bit of prehistoric Mayan life.
Because of its seclusion and exclusiveness, there are not a lot of amenities and restaurants located along the beach so if planning to visit just for the day be prepared. But the unparalleled beauty and ideal location of Playa Maroma has led to the establishment over the last few years of many high-end hotels along the shoreline including the Maroma Resort, Maroma Secrets and the Hotel Catalonia Playa Maroma making this a favorite spot to stay for those vacationing in the Riviera. Maya. Many of these resorts offer infinite luxury and pampering alongside world-class service and cuisine, all in one of the most beautiful spots in the world.
Situated in the Mexican state of Quintana Roo along the famed Riviera Maya, Playa Maroma is centrally located about 35 kilometers south of Cancun and just 10 kilometers north of the Mexican town of Playa del Carmen. Maroma beach is an exclusive gated community, but everyone can access the area through the security gate for a $100 peso entry fee.

Maroma is a beautiful beach located north of Playa del Carmen. A big beach with white clean sand, crystalline water and the place to relax and enjoy a good time! But to access you need to pay. Anyway if you can is ok to pay! You will enjoy it. Differently from Playa del Carmen beach, you don’t have just houses by the beach but luxuriant nature. I love a good beach and I love this one! I went to Maroma beach when I was in Playa del Carmen during some months and I recommend. It’s pretty close.

I live in Playa del Carmen and always visit Playa Maroma and Xpu-Ha beach. Xpu-Ha isn't so expensive as this one. It is only 40 pesos. But Maroma beach is more beautiful. An ideal soft white sand that is never hot, the reefs and bright clear blue water. Just what I need for relaxing and forgetting about my job in Kiev:) If I get hungry I go to the restaurant and eat my favorite local seafood.
