About Cenote Dos Ojos
It is a cave system situated on the Caribbean coastline, in the Mexican province Quintana Roo. The search of Dos Ojos started in 1986 and is continuous since then. The recorded underwater extent of the cave system is more than 61 kilometers.
Dos Ojos is among the 10 longest below water cave systems all over the world. Dos Ojos has the deepest cave channel in Quintana Roo having 118 meters feet of depth at The Cenote Pit.
In Spanish language Dos Ojos means two eyes. Dos Ojos refers to 2 nearby cenotes that connect to a very big cavern area shared between the 2. These 2 cenotes look like 2 big eyes. A few of the below water caves were shot in 2002 in an IMAX movie.
The water is extremely clear. Water temperature remains in the range of 24-25 °C all through the year. The greatest depth close to the Dos Ojos Cenotes is about 10 meters.
There are some types of fish and 2 kinds of freshwater shrimp residing in the cavern. A Bat Cave is also there.
Snorkeling: Here every member of the family can have something to enjoy in the water. Water is deeper on one side and shallow on the other. Big wooden deck at entrance makes it a grand entry point. It is among the most pleasing snorkeling places for adventurers of all age groups.
