Home to the PGA Tour golf tournament, the OHL Classic at Mayakoba, El Cameleon is no doubt a world-class golf course. It is located in the center of the Riviera Maya south of Cancun. The course obviously derived its name from its widely varied layout and always-changing landscape -- just like a chameleon changing with its environment. It is a good representative of the natural charm of the region. The area is filled with everything that you can expect to see in the Mexican Caribbean -- lush greenery, mangroves, cenotes and the like. The color of the turf is a rich dark green, expectedly.

El Cameleon is the focal point of Mayakoba's luxury resort development, which features the Fairmont Mayakoba Hotel. Luxury is certainly not the exception at this golf course. It boasts of all the amenities that are to be expected of a world-class golf course and more. For instance, El Cameleon is the only golf course to have carts fitted with satellite positioning system and monitors, making play a much more interesting experience here.

The Mayakoba Golf Classic, the latest official event on the PGA Tour calendar, is hosted at El Cameleon. The event is the first official event of the PGA Tour to take place in Mexico with a cash prize on offer.
