In order for people to live in a harmonious, productive and an efficient manner, a fundamental change is necessary. That is the idea behind Ak Lu'um International School. The school combines an attitude of distinction and care with humanist Waldorf philosophy in relations with other people as well as the environment. The quality of education provided is intended to prepare children for today's ever-changing world, arming them with flexibility, determination and imagination.

Established on the principles of humanist philosopher Rudolf Steiner, Ak Lu'um International School aims to support the natural development stages of the child. Respect for life and enthusiastic observation are encouraged through the use of facts about and attraction of the environment. Qualified teachers are provided to present subjects to children in an enthusiastic manner capable of exciting keen interest in them, without necessarily having to resort to the use rewards or tests.

Ak Lu'um International School is environmentally conscious. Waste is isolated and recycled, while every member of the community is encouraged to follow along the same line. Advice is also provided on matters of recycling to members in need of it. Children take part in garden work to enhance the beauty of the school, which supplies its own water and power needs. Fragments from meals are taken care of by chickens, which make free-range eggs available to the school.
