About Kohunlich
Kohunlich is another archeological site of ancient enriched Maya Civilization. In 600 AD, it was a worth to mention residential area of that time. The site was populated by dense tropical forests and thus has huge bio diversity. Sophisticated and splendid palaces, big statues were the trademarks of the spot. The area was inhabited by Maya peoples in 200 BC. City was inhabited by new buildings and monuments during the era 250 to 600 AD. Many of those constructions are still densely covered by greenery.
One of the great monuments was the “Pyramid of Sun”. This pyramid is from pre- classic time. On its central stair case, six huge stucco marks are present. Temple is characterized by three tiers, which are have symbolic meanings of Venus and Sun. Masks have height of 3 meters. Plaza, the ball court, Mervin, and some other structures are located at the entrance of temple.
